Home Improvement Trends 2018 - Concrete

2/28/2018
The home improvement trends lists for 2018 are almost all including concrete as a top ten trend!

A heavy hitter in the world of real estate, Realtor.com has concrete at #7 on their list.
7. Concrete in unexpected places

Tired of basic granite in your kitchen and bath? Ditch it in favor of cool concrete—and then take your design up a notch by extending the material elsewhere in your house.

“From fireplaces to bath tubs, concrete is no longer the countertop alternative,” says designer Ana Cummings. “I’m seeing entire walls in concrete panels that look fantastic juxtaposed next to antiques or contemporary furnishings.”

The Washington Post Lifestyles sections includes concrete as #7 as well.
7. Concrete accents

Step aside, white marble — it’s concrete’s time to steal the spotlight.

“It’s a really affordable, high-impact design element,” Parker said.

Already used for floors and countertops, the versatile, accessible material is now being used in more interesting and unexpected ways, including in home accessories, such as pendant lighting and furniture.

“We’re seeing new uses [of it] on all kinds of hardscaping surfaces,” Parker added. “On anything you can think of, people are casting it.”

Last, but not least, is Remodeling Magazine showcasing Houzz's list of 2018 Home Improvement Trends and a short (but sweet) shout out for concrete.
Sinks - Dark-hued sinks made of concrete, stone, and copper will start to trend more than white or stainless steel sinks. Trough and bucket sinks could be more popular, especially as the modern farmhouse trend persists.

Details - Houzz anticipates concrete will be seen more in the home, showcased in decorative accents, furniture, and tile.

We have to agree with Houzz. Custom concrete sinks are an amazing, and affordable, way to create a unique feature in your  kitchen, outdoor kitchen, bath, or mud room.
Concrete has always been one of the go to material for pool decks, patios, foundations, walkways, counter tops, and flooring so it's only natural that this sustainable building material transitions into other parts of the home.
